QUIRINALE - Pd ahead with Prodi, Pdl and Lega are not in it: "Let's desert the vote"

The news of the day, in the difficult race for the Quirinale, is the candidacy of Romano Prodi by the Pd, which, starting from the fourth ballot, will vote for the Professor. A candidacy that, at least on paper, reunites the Democratic Party (Renzians and Young Turks included) and mends the rift with Vendola, but which has unleashed the furious reaction of the Pdl.

A change of name which is also a change of method, and a closure to the hypothesis of broad understandings. The shared choice of Franco Marini ended in a debacle, which led to the choice of the most indigestible candidate for Silvio Berlusconi. The position taken by the centre-right is clear and very controversial. After the irritated declarations of the various exponents, the decision has in fact arrived, which for now involves the PDL and the Northern League, but which could be followed by that of other groups in the coalition: not to participate in the fourth vote, the one in which an absolute majority of the members (504 votes).

Pdl and Lega will therefore desert the vote, to avoid any snipers and to put the Democratic Party against the wall, which will now necessarily have to go it alone given that Monti's Civic Choice has already spoken out for Cancellieri and Grillo is adamant on Rodotà. From the Movimento 5 Stelle they are also trying to entice Bersani: "If the Democratic Party votes for Rodotà, prairies will open up for the government...".
