Here we are. The European Researchers' Night returns on 30 September. As has been the case for 17 years, events and meetings dedicated to scientific research are held throughout Europe on the last Friday of September. Millions of people participate in the events organized by institutes and research bodies. In Italy it is once again Enea that presents a rich program relying on the project NET scieNcETogether . A cluster that brings together 11 of the major research institutions and universities.
The locations chosen by Enea are Rome and Portici (Naples). In Rome on Friday 30 and Saturday 1 October in the NET Village at the Città dell'Altra Economia 40 stands and stages will host meetings, experiments, games and shows of various kinds. Particular attention is dedicated to children and teenagers. The adults evidently organize themselves. From the "Magic of chemistry" to the "Secrets of light", the researchers will explain the mysteries of optical fibers, chemical processes, photographic lenses, telescopes. Among the novelties, highly topical due to climate impacts, the personal test on how much CO2 we produce in one day and how all our behavior affects the environment. With the "Climate genomics" the theme of climate change and how atmospheric changes affect our genes. Enea is also engaged in international research on the climate-food relationship. The theme, which has become universal under the impetus of the United Nations, will be at the center of the meeting "Friendly microorganisms for good and sustainable food".
Researchers night also observe glaciers
From Food to Glaciers. With the collaboration of the CNR, Friday 30 at 20 there will be a live connection with the Italian-French Concordia station in Antarctica, where a group of researchers and technicians have been living in complete isolation since February. Finally, as in coexist of ancient Rome, “aperiscienza” were also organized at the bar of the Città dell'Altra Economia, to talk about hydrogen, nuclear fusion, land use, circular economy, informally. We know that Enea has ambitious research projects for each of these sectors.
Enea presents the projects for hydrogen and photovoltaic roofs
At the ENEA Center in Portici Friday 30 from 15 to 22 pm there will be interactive experiments, exhibition-demonstration itineraries, a large game of the goose on a human scale, insights into energy and the environment. In particular, also by virtue of the energy crisis, the researchers will focus on the validity of alternative sources, of photovoltaic roofs, on the need to change lifestyles and consumption. The European event has now also established close ties with the world of industry and production. The experiments that are shown to the public are often simulations of activities carried out in companies. The topics chosen represent only a part of the work that is carried out in the laboratories. After years of sacrifices, overall Italian spending in 2021 marked a rise of 5,2% more than in 2020. A provision by the Draghi government has given the possibility to 1700 Italian researchers emigrated abroad to return with their projects.
