Museums: Rome hosts a fair dedicated to bringing together institutions, companies, and industry professionals.

It's called "RO.ME – Museum Exhibition" and it's the leading business-to-business event in the museum sector. The eighth edition is taking place in Rome, featuring meetings, insights, technology, and opportunities for those working in the sector.

Museums: Rome hosts a fair dedicated to bringing together institutions, companies, and industry professionals.

It kicked off November 12, the eighth edition of RO.ME – Museum Exhibition and will continue until November 14, the day on which the "Italian Museum Bookshop 2025" award will be presented during the closing ceremony, scheduled for 12:45 PM. The event, hosted within the Corsie Sistine of the Monumental Complex of Santo Spirito in Sassia, confirms its role as a point of reference for operators, institutions, and businesses committed to the valorization of cultural heritage and the digital transformation of the sector.

The 2025 edition, entitled “Better Together”, focuses on the challenges of economic sustainability, fundraising, and management innovation, promoting dialogue between culture and business. Over 60 speakers and 30 meetings will explore new governance models, public-private partnerships, and tools to make museums and cultural destinations more resilient, accessible, and participatory. Two special events will immediately kick off the event: the first, promoted by the Department for the Promotion of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture, focuses on the theme of museums as tools for the cultural regeneration of territories, the second – of international scope – coincides with the final conference of the Exhibition “Deep Surfaces“, organized by theUNESCO, in collaboration with the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), accessible until November 23 at Palazzo Zorzi, Venice. An important focus on the role ofarchitecture of visitor centres in enhancing the cultural experience of those visiting UNESCO sites.

During the three days of the event, representatives of approximately 60/80 national and international companies will be present, with buyer from United States, Europe and Asia, emissaries of museum institutions such as: New York Historical Society, The Huntington Library, Columbus Museum of Art, Chrysler Museum of Art, Victoria and Albert Museum, Imma-Irish Museum of Modern Art, Natural History Museum of Denmark, Hangzhou Winland Center. 

Two are also expected keynote very relevant, one on the topic of museum deposits seen as an integral part of the visitor's final experience and another on the theme of commercial spaces and attractions set up within the museums themselves. International case studies will show the practices and models already adopted by some reference structures. Finally, there will also be space for the technology, with the now ubiquitous Artificial Intelligence, this time in an artistic and cultural context. Among the leading enterprises, to name just a few: Epson, with its revolutionary projectors capable of illuminating large surfaces at close range,  2Pi, which presents its multilingual simultaneous translation system, AerariumChain, with its high-precision 3D scans to produce digital twins of works of art, HPA, with its TELA platform that allows access control and flow monitoring with AI, Ok One with its totems for the fundraising which give the possibility of making free donations within various museums, with a touch on the screen and one on the built-in POS, Vision, with its publications dedicated to archaeological publishing, Way Experience, with its virtual reality at the service of cultural heritage.

It is worth highlighting the broad participation of the businesses in Lazio, supported by the Lazio Region, Lazio Innova and the Rome Chamber of Commerce, through its special agency Sviluppo e Territorio. Among the institutional events, noteworthy is the speech by Massimiliano Smeriglio, Councilor for Culture of Rome Capital, on the strategies for enhancing the Rome Museum System, with a focus on the PNRR projects and interventions for the Jubilee Year. Finally, Federico Mollicone, president of the Culture Commission of the Chamber, will have the opportunity to illustrate the bill "Italy on Stage," aimed at encouraging private participation in the management and promotion of cultural heritage.
