Monti: from cuts to parties 91 million for earthquake-affected areas, green light to simplification decree

Prime Minister Monti signed the decree on the distribution of funds for the earthquake: 91 million euros saved from contributions to parties - The Government approves the bill on simplifications, which will guarantee savings of 3,7 billion euros - It will be consultation of the provision on the national energy strategy.

Prime Minister Mario Monti signed the decree for the distribution of funds for the earthquake in Emilia Romagna, Lombardy, Veneto, Umbria and Abruzzo. Resources, 91 million saved on contributions to political parties, will be broken down as follows: “the municipalities affected by the earthquake in the provinces of Bologna, Modena, Ferrara, Mantua, Reggio Emilia and Rovigo on 20 and 29 May 2012, to which over 61 million euros are destined; the municipalities of Umbria due to the earthquake of 15 December 2009 to which 20 million euros are destined, and, finally, the seismic events that affected the province of L'Aquila and the other municipalities to which 10 million euros are destined” .

Still today, the government has approved the simplification billi, which Monti hopes "may have a swift parliamentary path". The decree, which will streamline bureaucratic steps for citizens and businesses, should also guarantee savings of around 3,7 billion euros. To be affected by the simplifications will be in particular work, social security, infrastructure, cultural heritage and construction. The issue of safety at work is also involved.

Instead, it will be put up for consultation ithe provision on the national energy strategy, defined by Prime Minister Monti as a "structural provision" through which "Italy is trying to equip itself with an overall energy strategy“, which will reduce “costs and bills”. For the Minister of Economic Development Corrado Passera the further objective is to take Italy beyond the environmental limits for 2020, reducing emissions and increasing efficiency and renewable energies.
