After hitting Haiti and the Dominican Republic, Hurricane Matthew scares the United States. The hurricane, which moved from category 4 to category 3, remains very dangerous, with winds traveling around 200 kilometers per hour. The prediction of the National Hurricane Center is that Matthew could weaken further in the next few hours.

In the meantime, however, the hurricane has claimed over five hundred lives in Haiti and four in the Dominican Republic, and is now heading towards Florida where 600 homes have already been left without electricity due to the damage to infrastructure caused by the strong winds that are beginning to blow over the State.

Three million residents have already been evacuated from Florida cities and an estimated 8 million Americans could be affected by the damage. In addition to Florida, US President Barack Obama has also declared states of emergency in Georgia and South Carolina, where the arrival of the hurricane is expected this evening.
