Mayor, an Italian corporate group active in the engineering, technology and energy sectors, announced that a consortium composed of its subsidiary Tecnimont (Integrated E&C Solutions) and from Baker Hughes obtained an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract from Sonatrach, an Algerian state company and one of the world's leading oil companies as well as Africa's largest joint-stock company.
$2,3 billion contract
The contract concerns the realization of three compressor stations and the strengthening of the gas collection system in the Hassi R'mel gas field, located 550 kilometers south of Algiers. This field is the largest in Algeria and one of the largest in the world. The total value of the contract is approximately 2,3 billion dollars, of which 1,7 billion belongs to Tecnimont.
Three compressor stations and expansion of the gas network
The project provides for the construction of three stations gas compression with turbo compressors capable of compressing approximately 188 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. Furthermore, it includes the strengthening of the system gas collection, which includes over 300 km of pipelines connecting the wells. The project is expected to be completed within 39 months from the entry into force of the contract.
The compressor stations and collection system will maintain gas pressure along the pipelines, ensuring a reliable and continuous supply to Italy and Europe.
Strategic operation for Italy
The contract strengthens Maire's strategic role in the engineering of crucial energy projects and optimizes the supply of gas from Algeria, diversifying its Italian energy resources and European. The initiative consolidates relations between the shores of the Mediterranean, strengthening cooperation between the European Union and Africa.
