La receipt lottery it becomes sort of "Scratch”. After the limited success of the system launched at the beginning of 2021 - to encourage the use of electronic payments and, at the same time, to combat tax evasion - the "game show" is changing its skin. The new mechanism provides instant wins: just scan a code (Qr code) on the receipt with your mobile phone and you will immediately know if and what you have won. The prize should be between 100 and 150 euros. The proposal comes from the Customs and Monopolies Agency but has yet to be approved by the Meloni government. The receipt lottery: how it works
La Participation the receipt lottery is free. Just get a code on the lottery portal which must then be given to the shopkeeper before purchase. The expenditure must be at least 1 euro and be made through electronic payment. For every euro spent on the receipt, there is a virtual lottery ticket (for a maximum of 1.000 tickets).
Receipt lottery: draws
Gods are awarded on a regular basis awards, based on the following extractions:
- weekly draws with 15 prizes of 25.000 euros for buyers and 15 prizes of 5.000 euros for exhibitors;
- monthly draws with 10 prizes of 100.000 euros for buyers and 10 prizes of 20.000 euros for exhibitors;
- annual extraction with a prize of 5.000.000 euros for the purchaser and a prize of 1.000.000 euros for the merchant.
However, the mechanism is very cumbersome. To win it is not only necessary to wait for the drawing but also one communication via pec o registered mail which comes after a long time.
Hence the idea of the Customs and Monopolies Agency to change theawarding of prizes. While I requirements (adulthood and Italian residence) and le condizioni (electronic payments) should remain the same.
Does the receipt lottery become a sort of “scratch and win”?
From a system of weekly, monthly and annual prizes, we move on to instant winnings. Just like a real "Scratch and Win", only virtual and simpler. But how will it work?
Each suitable receipt in the lottery (since resulting from an electronic payment) it will be equipped with a QR code which will correspond to the electronic ticket and, once verified (probably through a special app), it will communicate to the interested parties whether it corresponds, or not, to a win.
The necessary steps are already being taken to change the technology. “The Customs and Monopolies Agency, the Revenue Agency and Sogei (technological partner of the State) are working on the implementation of the IT system and the technology will be technologically ready, in a 'beta' version, by the end of 2022. The first quarter of 2023 will be used to test the real environments and probably in the second semester 2023 the technology will actually be able to operate throughout the national territory”. This means that cash registers they will need to be updated for the new system. The Agency is studying methods that are compatible with the machines currently available to the businesses so as not to burden the exhibitors. Once the square has been found, the new prizes will become effective.
