Good expectations for the summer: they are about 568 thousand hires provided by the companies a June and rise to almost 1,4 million for the entire June-August quarter, with an increase of over 9 thousand units compared to June 2022 (+1,5%) and approximately 37 thousand units over the corresponding quarter (+2,8%) . In the month, they are e manufacturing (respectively with over 7 thousand and 4 thousand more hires) to support the demand for labour, while construction, personal services, financial and insurance services and IT and telecommunications services recorded a decrease. Also for June the difficulty in finding qualified personnel is confirmed: almost half of the wanted workers are difficult to find (+6,8% on June 2022). This scenario is outlined by the usual Bulletin of the Excelsior information system, realized by Unioncamere e Anpal.

From a territorial point of view, the Bulletin underlines the high mismatch found by companies in the North-East, making it difficult to find around 52% of the profiles sought, with peaks of 57,8% for Trentino-Alto Adige. Mismatch which stands at 47,1% for companies in the North West, 42,5% for companies in the South and Islands and 42,4% for companies in the Centre.

Work: tourism and manufacturing drive hiring

In June, the industry as a whole is looking for around 134 workers, rising to 348 in the June-August quarter. For the manufacturing, which is looking for 89 workers in the month and 237 in the quarter, the largest job opportunities concern the mechatronics industries (22 workers in the month and 58 in the quarter), followed by the metallurgical and metal products industries (about 18 in the month and 45 thousand in the quarter) and food (13 thousand in the month and 46 thousand in the quarter). For the sector of construction 44 hires are planned for the month and approximately 111 hires for the quarter.

On the other hand, there are 434 employment contracts envisaged by the service sector in the current month and over 1 million for the June-August quarter. And the to offer the more employment opportunities with over 164 workers wanted in the month and around 353 in the quarter, followed by the personal services sector (71 in the month and 165 in the quarter) and by commerce (69 in the month and 171 in the quarter).

Still difficult to find qualified personnel

La finding difficulty stands at 46%. Among the technical and highly specialized professions, the Excelsior Information System Report reports specialists in the life sciences (pharmacists, biologists, agronomists, etc.) with 80,3% being difficult to find, followed by technicians in the engineering field ( 68,9%) and technicians for the management of the production processes of goods and services (68,5%), while among the figures of skilled workers, the skilled workers responsible for finishing constructions stand out (72,5%) and the smelters, welders , tinsmiths, coppersmiths, metal carpentry fitters (70,7%).

Permanent contracts are growing

The forecast for i permanent contracts (compared to June 2022 +12 thousand units; +14,8 %), also as a result of the high difficulty in finding personnel; while on the other hand the increase is less significant for fixed-term and seasonal contracts (compared to the previous year +8 thousand; + 2,3%) and the forecasts for occasional and VAT-registered collaboration contracts decrease (compared to 2022 - 15 thousand; -40,5%) and administration contracts (-2 thousand; -2,9%). It is also still growing demand for immigrant workers with 114 thousand admissions scheduled in the month (+18 thousand compared to the same period of 2022), equal to 20,1% of the total.
