Greece repays 584 million to the IMF

La Greece has repaid to International Monetary Fund a tranche from 584 million euro of a loan due today. This was reported by various media, quoting another official of the Greek Ministry of Finance.

This is one of three payments scheduled for March. While negotiations are underway with Brussels for the extension of the bailout plan and the consequent release of funds for another 7 billion euros, the liquidity available to Athens to honor its deadlines is decreasing.

In any case, last Saturday the government announced that it had a plan to strengthen its liquidity and assured that it will have no problem paying salaries or pensions.

As for the debt, "our intention is to repay every single euro: help us grow, so we can repay the money," said Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis in an interview with German television ARD last night.
