FS Group and Bambino Gesù Hospital join forces for the "Welcome Project": fundraising campaign open until April 9th.

Il FS group e the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital have started a fundraiser aimed at the “Hospitality Project", aimed at the families of long-term children forced to travel for specialized care. The campaign, open to both Italian Railways employees and the public, is active from December 19, 2025 and will continue until April 9 2026.

The project provides support services to families during extended hospital stays, including free accommodation, meals, transportation, psychological support, cultural mediation, language courses, and educational activities. In 2024, the "Welcome Project" supported 4.351 families, providing over 100 free overnight stays.

To participate in the collection, travellers will be able to make a voluntary donation through a pop-up that will appear on the Trenitalia automatic ticket machines before finalizing the ticket purchase. The FS group has also made its own spaces available to host several volunteer associations, which are used as reception facilities for families.

The initiative is part of a broader social responsibility program of the FS group.

“Hospitality is a value that has always guided our way of working – he declared Tommaso Tanzilli, president of the FS group -. Supporting the Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital's Hospitality Project means being concretely at the side of families facing complex treatment paths, offering them not only material support but also a tangible sign of closeness and attention. This commitment reflects our social responsibility and our desire to put people at the center of every journey.”

"Every treatment journey begins long before admission to the hospital: it begins when a family feels welcomed, listened to, and supported. It is at that moment that trust is born, and it is from there that healing can truly begin," he emphasized. Tiziano Onesti, president of the Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital. "The contribution of the FS Group, its employees, and the travelers who choose to donate helps us transform every trip into a concrete gesture of solidarity. A purchased ticket can become a helping hand, a warm room, a smile shared with someone coping with a child's illness. Thanks to the FS Group, which once again chooses to walk alongside us, we can continue to build a network of support based on care, love, and hope. Because no family should ever feel alone in their time of need."
