FS and Poste Italiane together for the digitalisation of passenger and goods transport

Il FS Group e Poste Italiane collaborate to digitalize freight and passenger transport. In fact, two distinct agreements were signed: a Memorandum of Understanding for passenger transport and one Letter of Intent for freight transport. The goal is to develop sustainable, innovative and digital solutions to simplify passengers' travel experiences and enhance intermodality in logistics.

FS-Poste: the Memorandum of Understanding

The MoU was signed by Luigi Ferraris, CEO of the FS Italiane Group, Matteo Del Fante, CEO of Poste Italiane and by Luigi Corradi, CEO of Trenitalia and Marco Siracusano, CEO of PostePay.

The agreement aims to promote the development of joint solutions in the field of electronic payments to further simplify the ticket purchasing experience through physical and online channels.

FS-Poste: the letter of intent

The Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed not only by Ferraris and Del Fante but also by Sabrina De Filippis, CEO of Mercitalia Logistics, and David Nothacker, CEO of sennder. In this case the goal is to develop a sustainable and digitalized logistics network.

Mercitalia Logistics, leader of the Logistics Hub of the FS Group, e transmitter, a German company specialized in the digitalisation of road freight transport and partner of Poste Italiane, will collaborate to expand the logistics network of intermodal freight transport in Europe. The partnership aims to enhance the competitive offer of the two companies, offering intermodal, innovative and sustainable logistics solutions in Europe. These solutions integrate the railway services of the Logistics Hub with first-last mile road transport using sennder's green vehicles.

“With the agreements signed today we aim to simplify the payment methods for travel tickets of our vehicles – declared the CEO of the FS Italiane Group Luigi Ferraris – and to improve the digitalisation of freight transport with a view to perfecting the multimodal rail-road offer in Europe, providing innovative and sustainable solutions capable of integrating rail services with first and last mile road services”.
