According to the index, calculated by the European Commission, pessimism is rampant among businesses and households and the whole continent - the figure fell in October for the eighth consecutive month

The confidence of businesses and households in the euro area continues to decline. In October, for the eighth consecutive month, the index elaborated by the European Commission fell, this time to 94,8, -0,2% compared to the previous month. The data, although better than expected, is symptomatic of the climate that reigns in the Eurozone.

The level of the index is thought to have a slight negative impact on investment and consumption. The lowest figure in the Netherlands and Poland (-0,6%), against the Italian figure +0,3%.
