Elon Musk enters Guinness Book of World Records for 'largest personal wealth loss in history'

Musk's Net Worth Drops $182 Billion, Shattering Previous Record Held by Softbank CEO

Elon Musk enters Guinness Book of World Records for 'largest personal wealth loss in history'

Elon Musk has officially entered the Guinness World Record: for the achievements with electric cars or for the space feats of your companies? No, for accumulating the largestand loss of personal assets of history. To announce the unhappy record conquered by the number one of Tesla, Space X and Twitter is the same Guinness World Record, the organization that assigns all sorts of firsts to the world

Elon Musk: a Guinness loss

Amounts to 182 billion dollars – 173 billion euros – the loss accumulated by Elon Musk since November 2021. A frightening figure. In just over a year, the assets of the hi-tech tycoon have indeed declined from 320 to 138 billion of dollars. This is an amount never before achieved by anyone and, although it is almost impossible to establish whether or not it is an exact figure to the cent, the record is still guaranteed. Elon Musk is therefore the man who has sufferedor the largest loss of assets personal history, shattering the previous negative record which belonged to the Japanese entrepreneur Masayoshi Son, CEO of SoftBank, which lost $2020 billion in 58,9. The loss, underlines the Guinness World Record, was calculated on the basis of estimates by Forbes, but according to other sources, such as Bloomberg, the red accumulated by Musk in 2022 would even exceed the 200 billions of dollars.

Musk is no longer the richest man in the world

In addition to the little envied record conquered in the last few hours, another record has attracted the attention of the international media, this time lost: Musk in fact he is no longer the richest man in the world. The first step of the podium (yes, coveted) is now occupied by Bernard Arnault, founder of the luxury giant LVMH, which has an estimated assets of 190 billion dollars. To partial consolation of the founder of Tesla, however, it must be said that even the other tech billionaires 2022 was a year to forget: Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, lost 85 billion dollars, Mark Zuckerberg, number one of Meta (Facebook), has seen 77 evaporate.

How did Musk lose 182 billion in one year?

At the root of the loss of wealth is the stock market meltdown suffered by Tesla in 2022. By 2021, the electric car company was worth more than Toyota, Ford, Daimler, Volkswagen and General Motors combined. In just one year the title has lost over 70% of its value and Musk burned a fortune.

According to many analysts, the now famous would have weighed down the performance of Tesla shares Twitter deal, bought by the South African-born billionaire for 44 billion dollars. In the eyes of investors, in fact, Musk would be so busy managing and trying to make the social network survive, as to neglect the car company, continuing among other things to sell shares upon shares. Not only that, the acquisition would have dealt a serious blow to his reputation: from misunderstood to misunderstood genius and that's it.
