Understanding St. Paul, through the IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division led by Mauro Micillo, acted as financial advisor to BayWa re of sale to Encavis AG of a 199 MW portfolio of renewable energy plants in northern Spain.

BayWa re is an independent power generation operator based in Germany, while Encavis is one of the leading producers of electricity from renewable sources in Europe.

The projects are located approximately 40 kilometers from Zaragoza, in the Aragon region. The portfolio includes: three wind farms with a total capacity of approximately 142 MW and two photovoltaic (PV) systems for a total of 57 MWp.

This transaction confirms the role of Intesa Sanpaolo, led by CEO Carlo Messina, as a leading international advisory partner, supporting projects related to the energy transition and the development of sustainable solutions.

  • Co-advisor in Masdar's joint venture with Iberdrola to co-invest in the 476-megawatt (MW) Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
