Serie A championship: Juve knocks out Fiorentina (3-1) and is back in the running for the Scudetto

Juve is also up for the Scudetto! What had been hovering in the air for some time has become official after yesterday evening: the Bianconeri are once again protagonists of the championship and will fight until the end to chase the title. Beating Fiorentina was fundamental and the Lady succeeded with an intelligent and concrete game, in perfect harmony with the last golden period (Seville aside), which saw her score 6 consecutive victories in the league.

An incredible roster, especially if you think about how Juve were up until a month ago: many thought they were dead, but that wasn't the case at all. Yesterday's 3-1, which came from a comeback, is worth the fourth place alone (overtaking Roma), the approach to Fiorentina and Naples (now at -2) and a loud and clear message to the leaders Inter. “The favorite for the Scudetto remains her – Allegri glossed over. – It's a scary team and we know that it will take a company to reach it. We have to think one step at a time, now let's win in Carpi and enjoy a peaceful Christmas".

The Juventus coach can well say it, back in the saddle after a terrible start that had brought him to the dock. In the rebirth there is also his hand: no more tactical experiments and exasperated rotations but clear and precise choices. The 3-5-2 has restored serenity to the group and the new signings have benefited above all from this, in particular Dybala and Mandzukic.

Yesterday too, the Juventus pair-goal did its duty with all due respect to Morata, at the moment downgraded to a luxury reserve. Instead, Paulo Sousa's Fiorentina has been postponed: the game is there and it shows a lot, but the feeling is that the team is deflating in the big matches.

“It's not easy to play in Turin – explained the Portuguese. – We tried to control the race but ran into some difficulties. We knew the qualities of Juve, a very strong team that concedes almost nothing". Yet the Juventus rearguard had made a mistake: how else to define Chiellini's silly foul on Bernardeschi? A too greedy gift for the specialist Ilicic (6 penalties out of 6 scored), who froze Buffon and the 40 at the Stadium after just 3'.

Juve at the beginning of the season would have given up, but this one is foaming at the mouth. Not even 3' later and Cuadrado, a former illustrious player who surprisingly replaced Lichtsteiner, mocked Tatarusanu with a header that called everything into question. It seemed like the start of the fireworks, instead Juventus and Fiorentina started a very tactical match, based on their respective specialties: dribbling for the Viola, patience for the Bianconeri. Because Allegri knows well that, with so much quality on the pitch, sooner or later a goal will come, just don't get overwhelmed by anxiety.

And so, after 80' without particular thrills, here is the crackling finale. First Mandzukic (a moment before giving way to Morata), then Dybala and the Lady ended up winning a very important match, perhaps even fundamental. The Scudetto remains far away but now it is truly an achievable goal: the Juventus people could not ask for a better gift.
