La Venice Biennale has opened its 59th International Art Exhibition, housed in the historic site at the Giardini and in the spaces of the Arsenale and sees a majority of female artists and non-binary subjects, a choice desired by the Curator Cecilia Alemandi. Many works are new productions specially created for this edition, which demonstrates evidence of a great attention to the new generations of artists.
It is no coincidence that the Curator has agreed to study and create the first College of Art in the history of the Biennale. College is the project of the Venice Biennale dedicated to the training and support of young people in all artistic sectors and in the activities of the organizational structure of the Biennale. Already active for the sectors of Cinema, Dance, Music, Theater and Historical Archive, Biennale College was born with the aim of promoting young talents, offering them to work in contact with Masters for the development of "creations" that will become part of the programs of the artistic sectors.
More than 250 young emerging artists under 30 from 58 countries around the world took part in the call for applications. More than half women.
