Bergamo, the bus ticket can be bought with the smartphone

Take your smartphone, open an app and buy a bus ticket, avoiding closed newsstands and jammed vending machines. And, again, pay for parking in the blue lines. It doesn't happen in Tokyo or any of the hyper-tech capitals of the world. It happens in Italy. In Bergamo to be precise.

The local public transport company, ATB, and Credito Bergamasco today presented a new free application for iOs and Android, in Italian and English, which allows you to purchase ATB services for mobility, using your mobile phone or tablet and paying by credit card through Banco Popolare's Youpay app.

The new app is divided into four sections: transport, parking, ZTL and Bike Sharing. The service allows you to have all the information you need to get around the city, updated and geolocated with Google Maps.

In this way, it is possible to find the closest parking, consult the bus lines and timetables, check the accesses for the restricted traffic areas for loading and unloading goods and get to the closest bike sharing cycle stations.

"The advantage for users of public transport, for citizens and tourists visiting our city, lies in the possibility of buying tickets for buses, trams and funiculars directly at the stop, just before boarding at no extra cost. Through collaboration with Credito Bergamasco, ATB satisfies, in a timely and efficient manner, the needs of a user increasingly oriented towards the use of payment solutions with a high technological content”, explains Fabrizio Antonello, president of ATB.

"A further improvement in customer service is expected shortly with the introduction of the "Calculate route” of Google Transit – he adds Gianni Scarfone, Director of ATB – with which it will be possible to find the right vehicle for your mobility needs, simply by specifying the origin and destination of your trip.
