In October, the decline in loans slowed, as did the growth rate of bank non-performing loans, while interest rates on mortgages decreased. This is the picture that emerges from the last monthly bulletin of Bankitalia on institutions in our country.
According to the calculations of via Nazionale, loans to the private sector in October they recorded a contraction on an annual basis of 2,1%, against -2,3% in September. Loans to households fell by 0,6% over twelve months (from -0,7% the previous month), while those to non-financial companies decreased by 3,1% (from -3,3%).
The annual growth rate of the private sector deposits it was equal to 2,3% (from +3,6% in September). There bond collection, including bonds held by the banking system, fell by 17,4% on an annual basis (-14,2% in the previous month).
Instead, they continue to increase bank bad debts, which recorded a growth rate of 19,3% in October. The figure is still better than the +19,9% recorded in September.
As for the mortgage interest rates, the average was 3,18%, against 3,27% the previous month. Yields on new consumer credit disbursements, on the other hand, stood at 8,97%, significantly down on the 9,24% recorded in September.
The interest rates on new loans to non-financial companies of up to one million euros stopped at 3,54% (against 3,60% in the previous month), while those on new loans of higher at this threshold they stood at 2,16% (from 2,43%). Lastly, deposit rates on total deposits amounted to 0,79%, the same figure as in September.
