Bagnoli: reclamation and relaunch at the start, agreement signed

Having overcome the controversies and differences, the government, the Region and the Municipality of Naples have signed the agreement which allows, after 23 years of disagreements and postponements, to get the ambitious plan off the ground for the restructuring of the former steelworks area. Now the operational phase begins.

Bagnoli: reclamation and relaunch at the start, agreement signed

For the first time, after twenty-three years of conflicts and tensions, an agreement was signed to reclaim and regenerate the Bagnoli-Coroglio area. Government and local authorities have finally been united in determining the objectives to be achieved for 2024. A joint effort to open a new phase of Bagnoli.

The agreement was signed by the mayor of Naples Luigi de Magistris, the governor of Campania, Vincenzo De Luca and the minister for the South, Claudio De Vincenti.

The project obtained almost total coverage and De Luca thanked "the government for the financial availability made available without which we would not have been able to take up any reasoning on Bagnoli"

“Today a strong, true institutional agreement is being signed, full of content and respect for everyone's roles. It is a privilege for me to sign and it is an important result, not taken for granted and which indeed seemed very difficult at the beginning”, is instead what was stated by the mayor of Naples who initially strongly opposed the project.

Among the works planned is the construction of a two-kilometre public beach that will be built in front of the "Città della Scienza". The fishing village of Cordoglio will remain unchanged and commercial activities, a cycle path and a sports center will be built.

The removal of the reclaimed landfill, a cement and waste material platform built in the 4s, is planned, and a walkway will be created at a height of XNUMX meters above the sea

The phase that will require the most time is certainly that of remediation, which will involve various areas on land and in the sea. Work will begin in 2018 and will take at least two years.

A project that can be a real beacon for the South, as stated by Minister De Vincenti. And there is also a twitter from Paolo Gentiloni «Signed the agreement with the Municipality and the Region on the future of Bagnoli. A good result for Naples» and a comment from the Prime Minister who underlined the commitment maintained by the government.
