Volkswagen: In Italy involved in the Dieselgate 648.458 vehicles. Solution by October

The total number of Volkswagen vehicles equipped with "tweaked" engines in Italy is equal - at the moment - to 648.458 unit. The German company communicates it in a note through the Italian subsidiary Volkswagen Group Italia.

Vehicles affected by the engine with software to cheat the emissions test will be recalled by Volkswagen. The affected models are divided as follows: 361.432 Volkswagen, 197.421 Audi, 35.348 Seat, 38.966 Skoda, 15.291 Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

The plan envisages that Volkswagen Ag and the other parent companies of the brands of the group involved "present the technical solutions and the relative measures to the competent Authorities in the month of October". Customers will be informed of the timing and methods for carrying out the maintenance intervention.

The company note also specifies that “all dealers and service partners will be able to precisely identify the vehicles involved in the plan. Thanks to the chassis number it will also be possible to exclude vehicles that do not need the intervention”. The company concludes by underlining that "all the vehicles involved, equipped with EU5 Type EA 189 diesel engines, are technically safe and suitable for road circulation".
