Venice, Fabrizio Plessi at the Fenice with Generali

From 26 July to 6 August, at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the experimental work "Fenix DNA" by Fabrizio Plessi, one of the founding fathers of video art, will be staged. The initiative is promoted by Generali Italia through the Valore Cultura program produced by the Teatro La Fenice Foundation in collaboration with Arthemisia.

“The primordial and primitive elements of water and fire have always been at the center of Plessi's artistic research – reads a note from Generali – who, also on this occasion, will express himself through what characterizes his DNA, uniting it and merging it with that of La Fenice, thanks to 200 casts, never seen before, designed and modeled by the Venetian Guerrino Lovato, as prototypes of the sculptures and ornate bas-reliefs of the auditorium of the theatre, destroyed by a terrible fire in 1996 and which reopened the doors, in all its magnificence, in December of 2003”.

The very heart of the theater, the stalls, will disappear to become the place of Plessi's artistic narration thanks to the casts which – as the artist says – “are the positive element, the one from which everything can always be reborn”. Among the casts, which reproduce capitals, barbicans, putti's heads, masks and grotesques, the visitor will witness a performance that will transform La Fenice.

Furthermore, the public will be able to listen to the notes specially composed by Maestro Giovanni Sparano, performed by the Pourquoi-Pas Ensemble under the direction of Alvise Zambon and sung by mezzo-soprano Francesca Gerbasi.
