US consumer confidence in October rose unexpectedly to a seven-year high. The index should come in at 86,4 points compared to 84,6 the previous month, which is definitely better than the consensus, which was for a slight drop to 84,4 points. The indicator, which reaches levels not seen since July 2007, was published by the University of Michigan which released its preliminary reading today. The minimum ever was instead reached in August 2011.
