Air transport, Government-Enav agreements approved

Il Pnrr invests in air transport. The Minister of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility, Enrico Giovannini, signed the decree approving the agreements signed by the Ministry and by Enav for the implementation of investment projects included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, which must be implemented in two phases: one by December 2023 and the other by March 2026. The agreements provide for a non-repayable contribution of 110 million euros to be attributed to the company that manages civil air traffic in Italy and to the three subsidiaries of the Group: Techno Sky, IDS AirNav and D-Flight.

In detail, the projects in question are grouped into two main strands: "Digital Innovation" and "Green Infrastructure" included among the six missions indicated by the Government. The Enav Group, in particular, will deal with the digitization of the airspace management system, also from the point of view of environmental sustainability, implementing projects relating to: development and connectivity of the remotely piloted aircraft management system; digitization of aeronautical information; creation of cloud infrastructures and virtualization of operational infrastructures; definition of a new maintenance model; secure sharing of information.

“With the signing of the agreements with the Enav Group – declared the Minister Enrico Giovannini – the most innovative projects of the Pnrr are implemented in the strategic sector of air transport. A digitization process is being strengthened which will allow for optimal management of services with particular attention to environmental sustainability".

"I am sure that the projects we will carry out will give immediate benefits to the sector both in terms of capacity and quality of service and in terms of employment and economic growth - he added Paolo Simioni, Group CEO -. We continue our path of airspace innovation in a digital and sustainable key. Thanks to the Ministry for the constant and fruitful collaboration".
