Tour de France, the time trial crowns Froome

The Marseille time trial was won by the Polish Maciej Bodnar but above all consecrated the Englishman Chris Froome to the throne of the Tour for the fourth time, victorious in 2013, 2015, 2016 and this year. Over the three weeks of the race, the Team Sky captain shared the yellow jersey only with his teammate Geraint Thomas and with Fabio Aru.

Froome finished third in the stage: 28'15” the time of Bodnar, who inflicted only 1″ of gap on Kwiatkowski. And, again by 1″, the French Romain Bardet (who risked being overtaken by Froome before the finish line and gave the general second place to Rigoberto Uran) kept the third step of the podium ahead of Mikel Landa. Together with Bardet, the loser of the day is the time trial world champion Tony Martin, still far from his own standards. Fabio Aru concludes his Grand Tour with a beautiful fifth place, just over three minutes behind Froome and 45 seconds from the podium.
