Pitti Uomo is back, the men's fashion event kicks off

The great Italian menswear event is back. It opens today in Florence, in the Fortezza, the89th edition of Pitti Uomo with 1.219 brands, of which 536 from abroad, from the industry presenting their collections for the winter 2016-2017. The salon, inaugurated this morning in the presence, among others, of Mayor Nardella, Governor Rossi and Minister Franceschini, will remain open until Friday.

An event which, like every year, promises to restore luster and liveliness to shops and clubs in Florence, generating an induced industry that is difficult to underestimate, and which arrives at an overall positive moment for men's fashion, which closed an uncertain 2015 with a turnover anyway up 1,8%, despite the slow-coming recovery in domestic consumption.

Overall, men's fashion revenues reach around 9 billion euros, out of a total of 74 billion in the entire Italian sector. According to the data provided by Come on (Sistema Moda Italia), the growth was driven by the sales of tailoring, shirts and knitwear, against the decline in leather clothing and ties.

THE export it recorded a growth of 2,4% on an annual basis, with a strong increase towards the United States, France and Germany, useful to compensate for the collapse of exports to Russia. The incidence of foreign turnover exceeds 63% of the total for men's fashion. Imports are also growing, to 4 billion.

After all, the relationship with foreign countries, especially at a time when domestic consumption is stagnating, remains fundamental for the entire sector. Proof of this is also the fact that more than a third of the buyers who will be present at Pitti Uomo (about 8.600 out of 24.000) will be foreigners, mostly from Japan, Germany, Spain and Great Britain.

The fashion houses present at the event, whose theme is Pitti Generation(s) will be divided into 15 groups, which represent as many stages along the way: Pitti Uomo, Make, Pop Up Stores, The Latest Fashion Buzz, Eye Pop, Fashion At Work , Futuro Maschile, Touch!, L'Altro Uomo, Born in the USA, Unconventional, Open, I Play, Urban Panorama, My Factory.

The expected visitors, on the other hand, should reach 35 thousand against the approximately 24 thousand registered during the last event. Another health signal, for one of the flagships of the Made in Italy:.
