Tennis, Errani shock: is it doping?

Tennis, Errani shock: is it doping?

Vintage to forget for Sara Errani. The Italian tennis player, for some time even out of the top 100 of the WTA ranking (she only returned to it a few days ago after going out in the second round of the Washington tournament), was not negative in an anti-doping control dating back to the first months of the year.

In the urine of the blue would have been found traces of arimidex, trade name anastrozole, the same one to which the rower Mornati was found positive. It belongs to the category of hormonal and metabolic modulators, the assumption is punished in the same way as anabolic agents. According to rumors from the ITF, the disqualification could be only two months (the minimum) because the international federation believed in the athlete's good faith. The February check was carried out at Errani's home, the substance is a stimulant and it is probable that the investigators believed in the involuntary ingestion.

Sara Errani in this part of the season has played in Paris, qualifying and two rounds in the main draw, Bol, Mallorca, Eastbourne, Wimbledon, Bastad and Washington. She was also present in Washington, where she exited in the second round. Just this week she had returned to the top 100 of the WTA rankings.
