An era ends, the history of one of the companies that for decades has been a symbol of excellence and Made in Italy changes. After almost 190 years of history, Marzotto is no longer from the family of the same name of entrepreneurs from Valdagno. However, this does not mean that there will be a break, a discontinuity with what the present is and with what the past was. Marzotto has in fact passed into the hands of Antonio Favrin, a man who was a manager and strategist of the same company for 59 years, until becoming its co-owner.
Favrin owns 80% of Marzotto
Last Thursday Antonio Favrin and his family conquered the full control of Trenora, the holding company which, through Wizard, controls the Marzotto group. Upon opening the envelopes containing the various offers, Favrin was awarded 32,01% of the shares for 80 million euros.
The Mi, which belongs to the children of Andrea Donà delle Rosand (son of Italia Marzotto who is the majority shareholder until his death in 2022) had presented an offer with a range of between 22 and 32 million euros. Narrowly passed, 10 thousand euros, from the offer of Faber Five, Favrin's finance company. Now the 86-year-old manager will have two months to complete the purchase.
Vittorio Marzotto holds 20% of the capital
20% remains in the hands of Vittorio Marzotto of the capital and the possibility of exercising the right of co-sale within a month in favor of Favrin, for a value of around 16 million euros.
Faber Five already owned 40% of Trenora, with an equal share with the Donà dalle Rose family. Packet that will now detect, rising to 80%. Simply put: no heir of the Marzotto dynasty will have control of the company, while remaining a shareholder. The exit of the last branch of the Marzotto family symbolically closes an epic that dates back to 1836, year of birth of the Wool Mill.
At the head of everything there will be the sons of Antonio Favrin: Davide who is the current CEO of the group, and Federica, a finance expert, already on the board of directors.
