Luxottica and Essilor have not offered any concessions to address EU antitrust fears over the46 billion euro merger announced, according to what can be read on the website of the EU Commission.

The two companies they had until 19 September to offer concessions after the EU competition watchdog expressed reservations about the deal last week.

At this point the Commission is likely to launch an investigation lasting four months following the preliminary review which will end on 26 September. On the Stock Exchange, the Luxottica share dropped by mid-morning by about half a percentage point to 47,60 euros per share, while on the Paris Stock Exchange Essilor lost more than 1% to 104,2 euros.
