Lodo Mondadori, no waiting: Fininvest will pay the De Benedetti group directly on the 26th

Lodo Mondadori, no waiting: Fininvest will pay the De Benedetti group directly on the 26th

By July 26 Fininvest will pay the compensation of 560 million due to the De Benedetti group after the sentence of the civil court of Milan. This was stated in a note from the financial subsidiary Silvio Berlusconi and administered by his daughter Marina. The company will therefore opt for a direct payment to Cir. The alternative would have been to wait for the necessary time to enforce the surety (800 million) filed by the group with Intesa Sanpaolo in 2009, as a precautionary measure against a possible negative outcome of the appeal ruling on the Lodo Mondadori.

The intent – discloses a source close to the negotiation – would be to “obtain savings on brokerage fees and other costs” (“Not yet quantified”, he specifies). The payment – says the company – “does not in any way represent acquiescence in the sentence” and, as known, Fininvest reserves the right to ask for its return if the Cassation overturns the outcome of the proceeding.
