Libya: the regime falls but Gaddafi does not give up. Clashes continue around his residence

The insurgents would now have control of 85% of the city, but the clashes continue around the residence of Gaddafi. During the night the rebels, who had launched their offensive between Saturday and Sunday, occupied the Green Square, a central and highly symbolic place for the Libyan capital.

But this morning the fighting continues around Bab Al-Aziziya, the residence of the rais. According to a diplomat to Agence France Presse, the French press agency, "Gaddafi is still in his residence" and has not already fled, as revealed by other sources. Almost all the buildings in the Bab Al Aziziya area, a fortress covering several hectares, have been razed to the ground, the target of several NATO raids since the start of military operations in March. But the Colonel can count on underground bunkers.
