Juve and Cristiano Ronaldo win but with the creeps (2 to 3)

Exciting debut of CR7 in Verona where Juve knocked down Chievo but suffering beyond what was due and only the quality of its champions prevented them from a sensational misstep

Juve and Cristiano Ronaldo win but with the creeps (2 to 3)

More adventurous and exciting than that the first championship and the first of Cristiano Ronaldo in Italy and in Juve could not really be imagined. The black and whites literally dominated the first half hour in Verona against Chievo and yet they risked a sensational defeat and only the quality of their champions turned the tide of the match upside down by winning 3 to 2. That said, if Juve won and pocketed the first three points, which is the only thing that matters to Allegri, CR7 honored his debut as a phenomenon and only a pinch of bad luck denied him the goal.

After just three minutes, Juve were already ahead with a fine goal from Khedira and seemed to be able to dispose of Chievo as they pleased, who closed like a hedgehog and did not hide their shyness in front of Cristiano Ronaldo and Dybala but a defensive distraction by the pair was enough Bonucci-Chiellini to reverse the situation and allow Chievo to reach the unexpected equalizer before the end of the first half with a nice header from the young Stepinski.

Everyone thought that in the second half Juve would immediately put things back in order but a penalty caused by Cancelo on Giaccarini instead paved the way for the incredible advantage of the Venetians who doubled their lead precisely on a penalty with the ex Blazers who gave up cheering. CR7 tried in every way to straighten the match but had no luck and only a smackdown by Bonucci, who thus made up for the initial half blunder, allowed Juve to equalize. At that point the Italian champions saw the possibility of bringing home the three points and didn't let it slip away. After a goal by Mandzukic disallowed due to a handball by CR7 and favored by a serious injury to Sorrentino, who suffered a head trauma in a collision with his teammate Bani and was then taken to the hospital for tests, Juve passed in the final with a beautiful goal by the darting Bernardeschi.

In the end it must be recognized that Allegri is right in pointing out that it is not enough to have Cristiano Ronaldo in the team to ensure victory because football is strange and the best man does not always win. But the Juventus coach is right twice when he adds that at the start of the season, against a tough opponent like Chievo and on a field like that of Bentegodi and on a scorching hot afternoon, the only thing that mattered was winning and again once Juve didn't let the opportunity slip away
