Iliad, over 6 million customers in Italy: "In 2021 the fixed network"

Semester to remember for Iliad despite the difficulties due to the coronavirus emergency. The Tlc Group has registered global revenues of 2,78 billion euros, up by 6,8%, an ebitda of 876 million (+9,4%), while consolidated profit more than tripled, rising from 62 to 205 million euro. Down the group's recurring operating result, which totals 218 million (-7,2%).

The ascent continues in Italy, where Iliad is preparing the debut in landline telephony. The deadline, according to what has been announced, has been set before the summer of next year. As regards the figures for the semester, in the peninsula the French company recorded a turnover of 312 million euros (+76% over 12 months), of which 162 in the second quarter (+68%). The Ebitda loss amounted to 84 million, an improvement from the loss of 108 million in the first half of 2019, while the operating loss amounted to 214 million. Results obtained "in a context marked by the health and economic crisis linked to Covid-19", underlines the company. Investments, excluding frequencies, amount to 223 million euros. Customer growth continues: two years after its debut in the Italian mobile telephony market, Iliad has exceeded 6 million clients (+454.000 net new users in Q2 2020) reaching a market share of approximately 8%. The goal of achieving balance in Ebitda terms in Italy with less than 10% of the market and reaching revenues of 1,5 billion in the long term remains confirmed, the group says.

“In the second quarter of the year we wanted to show concrete closeness to our users, suppliers and partners, and we have been rewarded with significant growth ̶ comments Benedict Levi, AD iliad ̶ We continue in this direction and now look at the next launch in the fixed network market”.

Moving on to France, in the first half of 2020, turnover increased by 1,8% to 2,47 billion, of which 1,33 billion deriving from fixed telephony (+1,8%) and 1,04 billion from mobile telephony (+ 4,4%). The equipment sector was down, with revenues down by 18,3% to 103 million. Ebitda grew by 5,6% to 876 million, while the group's operating result rose by 3,5% to 432 million. In France, the total number of mobile subscribers rose by 80 in the second quarter to 13,4 million. Broadband and ultra-broadband subscribers increased by 65 in three months, "the best performance in 4 years", to 6,57 million. In the fibre, in particular, there are over 2 million subscribers, with 243 new subscribers in the quarter. The total number of subscribers in France is 19,97 million (+145 thousand in the quarter).

“The first stage of the Odyssée 2024 transformation plan has succeeded as we record a strong rebound in commercial performance and a return to growth,” commented the CEO of the French group Thomas Reynaud, adding that Iliad is now entering "the second phase of the plan with the opening of numerous construction sites in the coming quarters, in particular the launch of B2B activities in France and landline in Italy".
