Tough times for Canadian Research In Motion. First quarter net income was $695 million, down from $934 million in the prior quarter. Revenue fell to $4,6 billion, a 12% decline. Data that will require a 'slimming' of the workforce employed at Rim.
   The reason for the group's difficulties lies in Apple's aggressive competition with the iPhone and Google's new Android operating system, which has squeezed Rim into fourth place in the smartphone market.
