Hera acquires, through a tender, 100% of the shares of Cosea Ambiente, a company that manages the urban and similar waste service owned by 20 Municipalities in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines (15 in the province of Bologna, already shareholders of the Hera group, and 5 in that of Pistoia).
Thanks to this acquisition, Hera will be able to manage its waste management services throughout the province of Bologna and integrate them with the other services already managed in the Apennine territories (mainly water and gas), while simultaneously guaranteeing the maintenance of the current staff employed.
The awarding of the tender also involved the assignment of the ten-year concession for the Cosea Consorzio landfill at Ca' dei Ladri, in the municipality of Gaggio Montano. The concession was stipulated between Herambiente and Cosea Consorzio. The 18 Municipalities that own Cosea Consortium are also members of Cosea Ambiente, albeit with different percentages in the two realities, with the sole exception of two Municipalities which do not hold any shares.
This operation adds to the acquisitions made in recent years of the Treviso-based Aliplast and Geo Nova and the Tuscan Waste Recycling and Teseco, and - underlines Hera - "is part of the growth path of the Hera Group and the related expansion of the corporate perimeter, already started for several years".
Adding up the various realities, the multi-utility serves 3,3 million citizens in over 170 Municipalities and manages all types of waste, thanks to around 90 plants.
"This operation represents a further step in the process of expanding our activities in the waste area, with a view to optimizing resources and processes, extracting synergies and creating value for the territories served and for all our stakeholders - says Tomaso Tommasi di Vignano, President Executive of the Hera Group. – Elements that allow us to offer citizens and industrial customers quality services and increasingly integrated solutions, capable of combining reliability and sustainability, for the collection and treatment of any type of waste.”
