Lap, Dumoulin gets his hands on the race

The Dutchman continues to amaze: after dominating the time trial, he manages to gain ground on his rivals even on the uphill finish of Oropa despite not being a climber – Nibali loses 43 seconds, he is fourth in the general classification.

Lap, Dumoulin gets his hands on the race

Tom Dumoulin is increasingly master of the 100th Giro d'Italia. The Dutch leader of the standings, who had shaken up the standings in the Sagrantino time trial, also won the 14th stage from Castellania to the Oropa Sanctuary, with an uphill finish, trimming precious seconds off all his direct opponents. Quintana lost something, even though he had attacked on the first ramps towards Oropa, Nibali went into a bit of a crisis in the final, losing 43” from Dumoulin and 29” from Quintana.

In the general standings, the Dutchman now has almost three minutes ahead of the Colombian Quintana, second, and about 3 and a half minutes over the Frenchman Pinot and Vincenzo Nibali.
