A new step in the international development of the FS Italiane group. Trenitalia France has signed a 35-year lease agreement with SCF Réseau for a railway site located in Maisons-Alfort Pompadour, in the Île-de-France region, where the future maintenance center dedicated to high-speed trains will be built.
FS: investment of 80 million
The project includes a total investment of approximately 80 million of euros and the entry into operation of the plant by the end of 2029. “The new infrastructure will allow Trenitalia France to strengthen the operational management of its fleet, improving the efficiency of maintenance activities and supporting the development of its rail offering in the French market. The maintenance center will also support future Frecciarossa high-speed services between Paris and London via the Eurotunnel,” the group explains in a statement, emphasizing that “the initiative is part of the international growth strategy envisioned in the industrial plan, which aims to strengthen our presence on the main European high-speed corridors and develop new competitive and sustainable rail connections between the continent's major cities.”
From a practical standpoint, the new centre will be designed to ensure continuous activities 24 hours a day and will understand three tracks equipped for maintenance simultaneous operation of three trains, as well as infrastructure dedicated to washing, cleaning and storage of the trains. Once fully operational, the facility will be structured to accommodate up to 25 convoys.
From an employment perspective, the construction and management of the plant will lead to the creation of approximately 100 new jobs, including direct employment and activities entrusted to partner companies involved in maintenance and operational support services.
