AgustaWestland has signed a distribution agreement and a contract with the Chinese Sino-US Intercontinental Helicopter Investment 20 helicopters worth around 170 million euros. This was announced by the Finmeccanica group company at the "China helicopter international exhibition" in Tianjin, China.
“The agreement – explains the company – includes a contract for twenty helicopters of various types, including AW119Ke, GrandNew, AW169, AW139 and AW189, and has a value of approximately 170 million euros. These helicopters will be intended to meet the demand of the Chinese market for various applications including VIP transport".
As for the distribution agreement, on the other hand, "it further strengthens the presence of the GrandNew and AW139 models in China and marks the entry of the entire new generation AgustaWestland family of helicopters on the related market thanks to the addition of the AW169 and AW189 models" .
AgustaWestland had already sold over 40 helicopters on the Chinese market for various purposes, such as passenger and VIP transport, public utility and civil protection, firefighting and maritime patrol. "With this distribution agreement - concludes the note - the company will now be able to seize new and further opportunities in the future in an important and expanding market such as the Chinese one".
Opening today in Piazza Affari, the Finmeccanica stock gains just under three percentage points.
