"Rome Fair to win its challenge and fully fulfill its mission as a catalyst for the economy of the territory and of the whole country, it must become a bridgehead to enter foreign markets. Since the first day of my role as Sole Administrator of Fiera Roma, last April, – explains Pietro during the presentation of the exhibition calendar to the foreign consular representations in Italy little ones, who in addition to being at the head of the Fiera della Capitale is Coordinator of the Internationalization Commission AEFI (Italian Exhibitions and Fairs Association) - I have identified one of the main strategic levers for relaunching the internationalization of the Fair.
By definition, trade fairs – continues Piccinetti – are places where the most diverse and geographically distant people meet and shake hands, to do business, of course, but also to get to know each other and bring distant worlds and realities into contact. Fairs are an essential engine for the economy. The 34 Italian exhibition centres, with 946 events, 200.000 final exhibitors and 22.000.000 total visitors, generated a turnover of 60 billion euros in the last year surveyed, giving rise to 50% of national exports and constituting the the main promotional tool for 75% of industrial companies and 85% of SMEs and the main vehicle for spreading the image of our country and Made in Italy in the world.
Fairs can truly represent a fundamental passport for the internationalization of Made in Italy. From this point of view, our fair must not run after the fair models of other urban realities. What is needed is a tailored suit, capable of dressing the peculiar Roman and Mediterranean identity, enhancing its enormous potential. This is the sense in which the events organized directly by Fiera Roma are conceived and built, which over the next two years will become 70% of all appointments. This is how it will be for the fair dedicated to agrifood, for the one centered on the sacred and the many activities connected to it, and for the one that will be dedicated to health at 360 degrees.
In particular, only Rome, in Italy, can make it possible to play an all-round role, within which the Fair can both be a turbocharger for the economy and have the function of consolidating political, institutional and diplomatic relations. Hence the idea of the Country Presentation format which, in addition to putting Italian companies in contact with realities in which there is development, represents a fantastic showcase for the hosted country.
The new format we are working on travels along this trend, a large multinational project that we will develop over the next few months: an event dedicated to "Silk Road”. Following the thread of the ancient trade itineraries between the Chinese and Roman empires, Fiera Roma, with exhibition areas and spaces intended for B2B, would become the venue for a sort of Forum, becoming a catalyst of interest for companies from the many important countries make up the "Silk Road". Thus once again the Fair will have fulfilled its highest mission: that of breaking down walls between peoples”.
