Expo, the prosecutor reiterates: Sala must be tried for abuse of office

The mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala must go to trial, as ex CEO of Expo, for abuse of office in the context of the investigation into the so-called Expo "plate" because he allegedly violated a series of rules, including those of the Code of contracts, in'direct assignment without tender of a supply of 6 thousand trees at Mantovani spa. This was supported by the deputy general prosecutors Vincenzo Calia and Massimo Gaballo, reiterating in the preliminary hearing the request for indictment for Sala and the other defendants in the proceeding on the contract for the service plate.

In their speech (closed-door hearing) the pgs, from what has been known, focused on Sala's position, after addressing procedural issues on the use of deeds and wiretaps. And they highlighted that, according to them, the offense contested against the mayor exists because the violation of the rules occurred with a financial advantage for Mantovani. Sala's defense also speaks today and the preliminary hearing will continue on 22 March.

Giuseppe Sala, Mayor of Milan since June 2016, held the position of Sole Commissioner of Expo 2015 from 2013 to 2015 and was Chief Executive Officer of Expo 2015 SpA from 2010 to February 2016. For these contested facts, Sala was entered in the register of suspects last December, but previously, in 2015 and 2016, he had been investigated twice again for events relating to Expo, which were then archived.

On February 17th, he released ainterview with FIRSTonline.
