EdF stands out in Paris (+7%) after upward revision of 2013 estimates and infects Italian utilities

EdF stands out in Paris (+7%) after upward revision of 2013 estimates and infects Italian utilities

In Paris, Electricite de France (EdF) shares jumped by more than 7% to 21,69 euros. It is the effect of the accounts for the quarter. The transalpine utility closed the first half of the year with an ebitda of 9,7 billion euros, +6,9% compared to the same period of 2012 and above the 9,24 billion consensus estimates. Net profit was 2,9 billion. EdF raised its 2013 EBITDA guidance, forecasting an increase of at least 3% excluding the results of the Italian Edison unit, while the previous estimate was for a stable or growing EBITDA of at most 3%. 

Italian utilities benefit from the good results of EdF: one hour after the close, Hera gains 0,87%, Acea 1,8%, A2a 2,01%, Iren 0,42% and Edison Rsp (which is co-controlled by EdF) 7,29%.
