Dividends 2022, the season is upon us: here is the ranking of the richest coupons in the US and Europe

La 2022 dividend season is almost upon us. Between April and June, many of the listed companies around the world will cut their coupons, rewarding shareholders generously thanks to the economic recovery recorded in 2021. And it doesn't matter that the outlook for 2022 is getting bleaker day by day due to the war in Ukraine and the risk of stagflation which is getting closer. According to all forecasts released so far, 2022 dividends will ensure high returns, giving great satisfaction to the shareholders.

Analyst forecasts for 2022 dividends

2021 was a record year for global dividends which, according to the latest report by Janus Henderson, hit $1.470 trillion, up 14,7% on an underlying basis against overall growth of 16,8%. Percentages that more than offset the cuts made in 2020 due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

What will happen in 2022? Also for the season that is about to start, Janus Henderson predicts a new record for global dividends, which could reach 1,52 trillion dollars, with an increase of 3,1% on a nominal basis or 5,7% in underlying terms. IHS Markit is even more optimistic, estimating a 6% increase to $2.090 trillion.

Very optimistic forecasts have also arrived for Italy, where according to Intermonte this year the dividend yield will increase by 3,75%, more than half a percentage point more than the 3,17% paid last year.

“Certainly the strategies related to the selection of high-dividend securities in this market context benefit from the liquidity that cannot easily be allocated to bonds due to both the restrictive monetary policies that central banks are about to implement and the high levels of inflation which erode the low nominal returns», explained al Sun 24 Hours Nicola Malno, chief investment officer of Valori asset management.
