Diego Piacentini leaves the position of government commissioner for digital and innovation. The manager himself announced it via Twitter, explaining that before leaving the scene he will continue to hold the position for another 45 days, until his successor is appointed. After which he will return to the United States.
“I thank the government for asking me to stay another year – tweeted the manager who is on leave from Amazon – but at the end of the two-year mandate I will be reunited with my family in Seattle as planned. I will work in prorogatio until the appointment of the new Commissioner to ensure continuity. I will pass the baton, satisfied with the work of these 24 months and proud of the results obtained by the team".

“We still have 45 crucial days of work,” he concluded. Piacentini, who has worked without pay in these two years, has held his current position since 17 August 2016. The former vice president of Amazon, born in 1960, had accepted the task of implementing the Digital Agenda entrusted by the Renzi government, taking a period of hiatus from his role in the Seattle company. To accomplish his goal – eliminating bureaucracy and providing citizens with a single digital identity – he has worked with a team of 29 experts over the past two years.
