Coppa Italia: Juventus eliminate AC Milan in an epic match to conquer the final

First of all thank you. For making us experience such an intense, vibrant, exciting, in a nutshell, beautiful football evening. After 120 minutes of battle (sporting of course), Juventus smiles, flying to the final of the Italian Cup and launching yet another signal to the Italian football population. The merits of the black and whites are undeniable, capable of biting the Devil right at his best moment, but these must not overshadow those of Milan, who, in defiance of the calendar, have decided to honor the cup until the end. If Italian football produced such a high-level evening (who knows what they think abroad about it...), it was also thanks to the "Juventus Stadium", full to the brim, which made everyone forget (including us) that we played "only" for the Italian cup. The evening in Turin didn't let us miss anything: from the story of Del Piero to the return to the field of Inzaghi, from the pearl of Maxi Lopez to that of Vucinic, who went from boos to standing ovations in less than a month. But what remains in our eyes after a match like this is fair play, totally forgotten in the last match at the "San Siro" (also in the grandstand) and a great protagonist at the "Juventus Stadium". Juve and Milan gave us a night of splendid football, what was needed to close the season without poison.

THE MATCH

Formations of the eve almost confirmed. Conte chooses the 4-3-3, with Vucinic and Pepe supporting Captain Del Piero, probably in the last match of his career against Milan. Allegri launches Ibrahimovic from the first minute, the novelty is Seedorf in front of the defense with Nocerino on the bench. Ready to go and it's immediately a show: high pace, Milan in attack and rapacious Juventus in the counterattacks. The black and white advantage comes from just one of these and it was Alex Del Piero who achieved it. This time no shooting under the top corner, but an undersized paw like an old fox from the penalty area. The Captain sticks out his tongue from the best of times, the 40 in the stands are literally full of jujubes. However, it is not Del Piero who takes Juve by the hand but Vucinic. It's really true that football is strange: just a month ago the Montenegrin was booed by the Turin crowd, then the goal from Bologna arrived and, as if by magic, the admired champion was seen again in Rome.

The ex Giallorossi devastates the left flank every time he starts, Aquilani knows something about it and in the 35th minute he knocks him out out of frustration. The first half ends with Juve on the shields, so much so that Allegri's choice to remove Ibrahimovic for Maxi Lopez seems like a declaration of surrender. Instead it turns out to be the winning move. Without the Swede, cumbersome and predictable (but he had back pain), the Rossoneri raised their center of gravity and gained ground towards Storari's goal. To change the inertia of the match is Mesbah, who taking advantage of a mistake by Pepe, scores the equalizer. Milan are back in the game, now all you need to go to extra time is a goal. The game lights up completely, every action seems to be the right one to see a goal, from both sides. In the 80th minute, however, the magic of Maxi Lopez arrives, who jumps Chiellini, slips Storari under the crossbar and gives the Rossoneri people an unexpected dream. To tell the truth Borriello, who replaced Del Piero, could put Juve back on track, but his right foot is slow and predictable and Amelia thanks her. Bad again for the former Romanist, who will be sent back to the capital in June.

Juve seem to be on the ropes, Milan seem like a boxer ready to knock out their opponent and instead everything changes in extra time. Maxi Lopez has a calf problem, Inzaghi (entered for El Shaarawy) has stomach cramps, Juve instead flies. Marchisio came close to scoring with an empty net, Giaccarini was only stopped by a splendid exit from Amelia, Caceres risked repeating the jewel of the first leg. It's just the prelude to Juve's goal, which arrives in the 96th minute thanks to a genius from Vucinic. The Montenegrin stops the ball outside the area, looks at Amelia and pierces him with a right foot that ends up exactly in the top corner. From then on it's just nerves (but without nasty fouls) and long balls looking for strikers: the two teams can't take it anymore. At Orsato's final whistle (dutiful congratulations to him too!) the "Juventus Stadium" explodes: the bianconeri are in the Italian Cup final, where they will face one between Naples and Siena.
