Edison case: Iren, we are negotiating with A2A but we are not willing to go into debt for Edipower

Iren is in negotiation with A2A to represent its position in relation to the reorganization of Edison. This is what Andrea Viero, general manager of Iren explained, present at Cernobbio meeting. The executive then stressed that the Italian utility is not willing to go into debt to buy Edipower, a subsidiary of Edison.

Viero added that the discussion with A2A continues. "We are discussing, we are negotiating, we have further represented our position, we are clarifying it." Regarding the hypothesis of a liquidation, he confirmed that it is a viable path, “but it should take place without any capital loss for us. A solution in which both the stake in Delmi and in Edipower end up in the new Italian Edipower I would find instead a bit difficult”.

Viero also highlighted how important the function that politics will have to exercise in the matter is. “It seems to me that to some extent Minister Romani has taken charge of raising awareness among the parties involved. Instead, I don't expect Tremonti to have anything to say. I believe that Romani will make an effort to weave all the necessary agreements within the government. It would be extraordinarily embarrassing – he concluded – if a solution was found with the imprimatur of Romani, it were blocked by Tremonti ”.
