SERIE A CHAMPIONSHIP – Inter wins, convinces in Verona (2-0) and dreams of the Champions League

Inter engages the sixth. The Nerazzurri conquer Verona and give themselves the sixth consecutive useful result, which allows them to make a big leap in the standings (fourth place, waiting for Fiorentina) and, perhaps, to dream of a decidedly important season finale. Now the points from Napoli third in the standings (but with one game less) are 8: it's still too early to talk seriously about the Champions League goal, but the latest performances allow us to at least give it a little thought. Hush hush Walter Mazzarri seems to have fixed the situation, which, as recently as a month ago, seemed rather complicated. However, the Nerazzurri coach had the merit of not losing his bearings and the team, thanks also to the purchase of Hernanes, has once again found the right course.

Bentegodi's victory is far from accidental and certainly deserved, because Inter dominated from start to finish. Ready away and Icardi (5 ') hits a sensational crossbar, Rafael completely beaten. Hellas plays for it, but the Nerazzurri control ball possession and rely on the greatest technical quality. Hernanes is now 100% involved in the maneuver and his athletic condition has definitely improved compared to some time ago. The emblem is Jonathan, back to running at his best like a few months ago. The results can be seen in the 14th minute: the Brazilian dribbles past an opponent, raises his head and serves Palacio with an open goal.

For Trenza it's child's play to beat Rafael and give his team the well-deserved 0-1 goal, thus celebrating the renewal of the contract signed during the week in the best possible way. Verona raises the center of gravity but Inter manages the outburst quite well, risking only on two occasions. The first (25') with a shot from Marquinho just wide, the second (28') with Toni who falls into the area after a tackle with Ranocchia. The images leave some doubts, but the referee seems to have made the right decision by not conceding the penalty. The Veronese competitive spirit also continued at the start of the second half, but the Nerazzurri didn't let themselves be intimidated and actually created the best chances.

Hernanes hits a sensational crossbar with a splendid free-kick, Guarin wastes a good bank from Icardi by kicking very badly from an excellent position. Mazzarri, mindful of the many points wasted in the past in similar situations, gets agitated and despairs, but Inter immediately reassures him. In the 63rd minute Jonathan, the man of the match, receives the ball thanks to a splendid opening from Hernanes and decides to do it all by himself: the first shot is blocked by Rafael, the second ends up on Moras' shin, the third goes in for the deserved 0-2. Verona tries to react with the same defender, who however misses with a header from an excellent position and in the final has another goal with Iturbe and Romulo, both blocked by a great Handanovic. The result doesn't change anymore and Inter takes home a convincing and fundamental success.

With that of Bentegodi there are 4 victories collected in the last 6 games, in which the Nerazzurri have conceded only 2 goals. Important numbers, which justify ambitious thoughts. No one at Inter says it openly, but third place is no longer just a dream.
