Bonus for 18 year olds starting today: how to get (and spend) the 500 euros

(Ansa) E-books and theatre, museums and concerts, including rock music: the bonus for eighteen-year-olds becomes operational. From today, children born in 1998 who have already reached the age of majority will be able to obtain the 500 euro culture bonus; the others (ie those born between November 4 and December 31, 1998) will be able to do so from their birthday. Everyone must register by 31 January 2017 and use the bonus by 31 December 2017. The Prime Minister has dedicated a website (https://www.18app.italia.it/#/) to young people who want to join the initiative. In the meantime, here is the essential information.

BONUS ALSO FOR FOREIGNERS

The bonus is also intended for foreign eighteen-year-olds as long as they have a residence permit and are resident in Italy. In total we are talking about 574.000 young people, for an amount of authorized expenditure of 290 million euros.

WHAT CAN YOU BUY

The list of categories of "cultural products" eligible for the bonus was decided by parliamentary debate and is included in a special decree of the prime minister. The 500 euros can therefore only be used for a detailed set of goods. You can buy tickets to attend theater and cinema performances, to visit museums and exhibitions, to participate in "cultural events" (for example the Book Fair or the Venice Festival), to visit monuments, galleries, archaeological areas, natural parks and "live shows" (from concerts at La Scala or Santa Cecilia, to circus shows). You can also buy books, including textbooks and of course also in the ebook version. Purchases can also be made online.

WHAT YOU CANNOT BUY

On the other hand, records, sheet music, musical instruments, foreign language courses, DVD films cannot be bought. However, the debate is open and it is not excluded that these assets, undoubtedly cultural, could be included in the list usable by eighteen-year-olds in 2017, whose bonus was reconfirmed in the budget law being studied by Parliament, for the same sum of 500 euros .

HOW TO GET THE 500 EUROS

Let's say right away that dad's handout is more practical and without constraints. But this is public money, given in a lean period, so it is good that money flows and purchases are controlled. The control takes place through an App, exactly "18App" (www.18app.italia.it). Here every 290-year-old can create her own virtual purse. And always here, exhibitors interested in taking advantage of the XNUMX million euros put on the market thanks to the bonus must also register. The registration of exhibitors ensures that there is a check on the cultural level of the goods and events offered.

ACTIVATE A SPID

Landed on the site 18App is essential create a Spid, i.e. a digital identity, essential for accessing the online services of the Public Administration. To have Spid you need to have a mobile phone, but above all a valid identity document and a health card. To register and obtain the Spid, you need to use one of the four identity providers (Poste, Tim, Infocert and Sielte). Using the Spid, you will log in and once you have entered the system, the 500 euro ceiling will be generated which will be active until the end of 2017.
