Berlusconi launches Zaia and displaces Salvini

The leader of Forza Italia is still awaiting the response of the Strasbourg judges on his candidacy. In the event that the Community Court of Justice definitively puts an end to his chances of taking the field directly, the scepter of leading man of the centre-right will pass into the hands of the Governor of Veneto.

«If Berlusconi cannot return to the field, the centre-right will have to find someone inside. The Governor of Veneto Luca Zaia is doing very well. I say Zaia or someone else able to emerge and convince everyone ». This is what the former Knight declared during the News Today broadcast on Canale Italia.

A solution that would allow Berlusconi not only to embarrass his traditional opponents, namely the Democratic Party and the 5 Star Movement, but also to relaunch his party's leadership within the centre-right, displacing Matteo Salvini's Northern League, with which has been going head-to-head for months to conquer the primacy. In fact, we recall that Zaia is one of the leading men of the Carroccio.

The president of Forza Italia also commented on the current political vicissitudes of the Democratic Party. In particular, with regard to the split, Berlusconi declared: «It is a war that is tearing apart the Democratic Party which by now looks like an empty container. Renzi has made mistakes, above all of arrogance and unreliability, but the rest of his party is using the same methods but without his charisma ». And again: «We need a new currency to regain our monetary sovereignty. Keep the euro for imports and exports and with a new internal currency provide for all state payments to help those left behind. I am absolutely convinced of this solution».
