Round of nominations in Axa Italia: Salvatore Cavallaro goes to head of Distribution and Giacomo Gargani to head of Strategy. Cavallaro, 50 years old, with a degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA from the London Business School, will therefore be the new Chief Distribution Officer of AXA Italia starting from 15 September and is already designated as future CEO of Quixa, replacing Domenico Martiello who leaves the insurance group. The manager will also join the Management Committee and report directly to the CEO of Axa Italia, Giacomo Gigantiello. In recent years Cavallaro has held positions of responsibility in Zurich Insurance such as Global Head of Market Management and Deputy Head of the Customer Office, with a focus on European markets including Italy, Switzerland, UK, Germany and Spain, where he has consolidated experience in distribution, product development and strategic marketing.
Before joining Zurich, Cavallaro spent a long period in GE Corporate and GE Capital, reaching the role of Global Strategy Director and subsequently Managing Director Europe Middle East and Africa, consolidating a strong expertise in the Sales and Marketing function, both B2B than B2C in the financial services and insurance sector.
James Gargani, 33 years old, has a degree in Economics and an Executive master from INSEAD in Singapore, from 16 September he will be the new Head of Strategy, replacing Pietro Cazzola, who will take on a leading role in Axa's Health Management Italy. Gargani will also report directly to CEO Giacomo Gigantiello and is currently Project Leader in the BCG insurance practice, with a long experience in Monitor Deloitte Strategy Consulting where he worked for ten years in the Insurance sector.
