The US real estate sector is showing signs of recovery. According to Standard & Poor's, house prices started to rise again in May. The S&P Case Shiller index, which measures price trends in the top twenty metropolitan areas of the United States, in fact recorded a 1% monthly increase; this is the second consecutive month of progress, since in April there was a +0,6%. In comparison with the same period of 2010, a drop of 4,5% emerges, compared to the 4,4% consensus: in this case it is the worst performance in the last 4 months. Equal to zero on a seasonally adjusted basis, the result compares instead with the 0,4% increase in April. The rebound in prices on a monthly basis "is due to seasonal factors, many months of increases are needed to certify the start of recovery in the real estate sector", explained a note from S&P Case Shiller.
