Trenitalia (FS), Enel and the Ministry: agreement to promote sustainable tourism

Promote a healthy and sustainable tourism. With this objective the agreement between Trenitalia (FS Group), the Ministry of Tourism ed Enel which enhances their respective skills to adopt innovative solutions aimed at increasing the attractiveness of particular strategic sites with a high tourist flow, in the direction of environmentally friendly tourism.

For better coordination, a note explains, the parties will form one control room which will have the task of promoting the sharing of information and the periodic performance of coordinated monitoring activities on the implementation of the protocol.

Louis Corradi, CEO of Trenitalia, announced "on the initiative of the Ministry, the birth in September of a new company of the Polo Passengeri dedicated to tourism, with which we will give even more attention to leisure travel on regional trains, where special villages can be added by train or develop cycle tourism, i.e. take the train to travel and visit a town and return home by bicycle”.

What the agreement between Trenitalia, Enel and the Ministry of Tourism provides for

In particular, Trenitalia will work to enhance the development of rail connections also connected with other sustainable modes of transport towards the main routes of the country. And to do this, special territorial promotion initiatives and sustainable accessibility to places of high cultural interest throughout the country will be developed, including with itineraries on historic trains.

Enel will offer solutions for sustainable tourism enhancement and to encourage proximity tourism: projects of electric mobility, "smart benches” equipped with charging sockets, the constitution of community energy, but also the installation of scenographic projections for events, smart-lighting systems at station entrances and exits, juice media in rest areas (a single structure that offers both electric charging and multimedia advertising services) and photovoltaic modules on station roofs.

While the Ministry of Tourism will undertake to support and publicize the initiatives in favor of slow tourism.
